SafeComments ("we", "us", or "our") operates the SafeComments service accessible at safecomments.space. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service. Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the service.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We store only what is necessary to identify your account and communicate with you.
YouTube Data
To moderate your YouTube comments, we request read and write access to your YouTube channel via the YouTube Data API v3. This access is used solely to:
- Fetch comments from your channel for moderation
- Hide, hold, or approve comments on your behalf
- Send automated replies when you configure auto-reply rules
We do not sell, share, or use your YouTube data for advertising or any purpose beyond providing the moderation service you requested. YouTube API Services are subject to Google's Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
Payment Information
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number or CVV. We receive and store a Stripe customer ID and subscription status to manage your plan.
Usage Data
We automatically collect certain technical information including your IP address, browser type, pages visited within the app, and timestamps. This data is used for security monitoring, debugging, and improving the service.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the SafeComments service
- Process transactions and manage your subscription
- Send transactional emails (moderation digests, billing receipts)
- Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
- Comply with legal obligations
- Improve and develop new features based on aggregate usage patterns
We do not use your data for behavioral advertising and we do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Moderated comment records are retained for up to 90 days for audit purposes, then deleted. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings page or by emailing us.
5. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We share data only with the following categories of service providers, who are contractually bound to protect it:
- Google / YouTube Data API — to access and moderate your channel comments
- Stripe — for payment processing
- Sentry — for error monitoring (stack traces, no PII intentionally included)
- Resend / email provider — for transactional emails
We may disclose your information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of SafeComments, our users, or the public.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data; withdraw consent; or lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@safecomments.space. We will respond within 30 days.
You may also revoke SafeComments' access to your Google account at any time via Google Account Permissions.
8. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, database access controls, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take it seriously.
9. Children's Privacy
SafeComments is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us immediately.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice in the app. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
